The final contracts because of German company PCC’s plans to construct a silicon factory at Bakki by Húsavík in Northeast Iceland were signed yesterday morning . The contracts were signed electronically and will later be sent by certified mail.

Chair of Norðurþing municipality Bergur Elías Ágústsson told mbl.is that this is a big step for the municipality.
Before the construction can begin, certain prerequisites on the energy sale contract must be lifted and the next budget bill must include funding for development of infrastructure, Bergur explained.
“The following steps are in the hands of others but everything is going well,” he concluded.
