FH Beats Akureyri in Duel for Handball Cup

By Iceland Review

fh-logoThe Hafnarfjördur club FH beat Akureyri 28-24 in the fourth game in their duel for the Icelandic Championship title in FH’s home arena Kaplakriki last week, thus winning the duel 3-1. The hall was packed with 3,000 spectators—a new record.

“It’s been a haul,” commented FH’s coach Kristján Arason to visir.is. “Most of these boys are around 20 years old but we have constantly been on the rise since November. The boys were focused on going all the way the entire winter so they certainly deserve this. I can hardly describe how proud I am.”

Further from home, Kiel became the German champion in handball yesterday for the second time in three years under the lead of Icelandic coach Alfred Gíslason. Icelandic national team player Aron Pálmarsson was one of the stars of the team with six goals, visir.is reports.
