Only 17.8 percent of Icelanders used public transport regularly in 2014, according to new figures from Statistics Iceland.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, students or young people aged 16 to 24 years old make up the largest group among those who use the bus regularly, or 32.5 percent. The second largest group are the unemployed, or 31.3, followed by immigrants, or 30.8 percent. Individuals renting a home followed by single parents and their children were next on the list.
According to the data, there is no difference in public transport between the genders but it is clear that the better off you are, the less you use public transport.
