Festival of modern music in Reykjavík

The “frum- festival” takes place at Kjarvalsstadir museum in Reykjavík next weekend, organized by the Icelandic-German ensemble “adapter.” Both contemporary classical music and works by young composers will be performed.

In the first concert the ensemble will perform seven new works composed specifically for this year’s festival, while the second concert is dedicated to the virtuosic solo works of the Italian composer Franco Donatoni.

In the third concert the ensemble will perform the four-and-a-half-hour long work “For Philip Guston” by the American composer Morton Feldman. The work was composed to be played in an art museum, so guests could come and go as they please.

The “frum- festival” was founded in the summer of 2006 as a new forum for the presentation of modern music in Reykjavík.

The concerts begin at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 12 noon on Sunday.
