Female investment company to be founded in Iceland

Icelandic female entrepreneurs Halla Tómasdóttir and Kristín Pétursdóttir are planning to found a new investment company this fall which will harness the knowledge and financial power of businesswomen.

Tómasdóttir, who currently serves as the managing director of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce, told Fréttabladid that she will resign from that post this fall to work on the new company with Pétursdóttir, the former managing director of Kaupthing Bank.

“We will definitely make use of the great force businesswomen represent,” Tómasdóttir said, but would not reveal anything about the nature of the planned investment company.

In recent years female entrepreneurs have made considerable profits coinciding with the upswing of the Icelandic economy. Fréttabladid assumes the twosome will seek cooperation from some of these women.

Finnur Oddsson, who has led Reykjavík University’s MBA course, will replace Tómasdóttir as the managing director of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce.
