Police in Húsavík, north Iceland, apprehended a ten-year old boy yesterday morning on the suspicion that he had been driving a family vehicle. The boy drove the vehicle, which was not registered and not insured, from his home near Húsavík to the main highway, where he was picked up by a school bus. The boy admitted that he had been driving, as did his parents, who were fully aware of his conduct. This is reported by VÍSIR online.
According to Húsavík police, the boy could barely reach the pedals of the car. His father, on the other hand, maintained the he was a better driver than many others who were permitted to go out in traffic, having driven a tractor from an early age. At this police informed the hapless parents that the boy was also under the legal driving age for a tractor. Police have said that they will be keeping a watch on the boy to ensure that he doesn’t do any driving in the near future.
