A number of people watched the Portuguese team at practice yesterday and even more fans hung around outside Grand Hotel where the team is staying, Fréttabladid reports.
“One might think the Beatles were staying here,” a hotel staff member, who had her hands full with keeping star-struck girls at bay, commented. “We don’t always catch everyone and have been finding kids on the 13th and 14th floor. This is incredible.”
In other football-related news, Iceland’s U-21 team in men’s football beat Scotland 2-1 yesterday and became the first Icelandic team to make it to the European Championship eight-team finals, which will be held in Denmark in June 2011.
