Fréttablaðð is reporting that an explosion occurred last night in Kópavogur on the 13th floor of an apartment
building. Residents recalled hearing an explosion and saw broken glass falling from above. The entire fire department of Kópavogur rushed to the scene, but upon arrival discovered no fire and little damage. It emerged that the glare of the sun (temperatures reached almost 20C on Tuesday), had heated up the air between the two layers of glass in the window so that it expanded and the glass exploded.
