Expensive Art

The Akureyri Art Museum opens an exhibition next Saturday where sculptures made from money bills of a total of 100 million kronas. The sculptures were a concept by museum curator Hannes Sigurdsson and artist Ashkan Sahihi.

According to Sigurdsson the exhibition is “concrete art in a very modern conception, and fantastic functional art which everyone understands.” The sculptures are for sale for the same amount as the bills used to make them, plus a 24,5 % artistic percentage.
