Exciting Events at Reykjavík Arts Festival

By Iceland Review

More than 60 events will take place at the 28th annual Reykjavík Arts Festival, which will be held May 22-June 5, 2014.

The title of this year’s festival translates as ‘Not over yet,’ which is a reference to the never-ending creative process of artists, according to its CEO & Artistic Director Hanna Styrmisdóttir.

The program was presented at the Living Art Museum yesterday. An exhibition of the works of visual artist Hreinn Friðfinnsson as well as a film about his life will be part of the festival and opened this weekend.

“This theme resonates with most artists because they know that a work of art is not a specific unit with a defined beginning or ending but an ongoing project that continues to evolve,” Hanna told ruv.is.

Five hundred artists from 20 countries will participate in this year’s Arts Festival. Stage art, collaboration of different artists, and visual art will be prominent, according to Hanna.

Among this year’s highlights are world famous Welsh bass-baritone opera and concert singer, and Georgian pianist Kathia Bunuatishvili.
