An excavator was used to break a window secured by iron bars in a burglary in Kópavogur early yesterday morning. Three laptops were taken but the damages to the house amount to over ISK 1 million.
According to the Icelandic National Broadcast Service the excavator had been stolen earlier from another location in Kópavogur. The burglars then drove the excavator to the computer store, then continued to drive it into the store, and finally used the arm of the excavator to break the windows. In addition to breaking the windows the excavator broke a radiator. The radiator then flooded the store with hot water and caused extensive water damage. The burglars are still at large.
