Icelandic event organizer Jón Jónsson celebrates its two-year anniversary next month and will therefore hold a series of concerts on three stages at Hótel Ísland in Reykjavík on December 18.
The music festival has been dubbed “Jól Jólsson” as a reference to Christmas, jól, in Icelandic.
The goal is for attendees to choose the concert atmosphere they prefer and the event organizer promises that everyone will find something to their liking.
Performers include GusGus, Lúdó & Stefán, FM Belfast, Ben Frost and Egill Saebjörnsson.
Each of the three stages has a special name: Jólakötturinn (“The Christmas Cat”), Bethlehem and Rómanskotid (“The Romance Cottage”), where everyone is encouraged to kiss and hug under the mistletoe.
The event also includes a Christmas lottery and a “unique toilet disco,” a press release states, also promising: “At 3 am on December 19 it will snow—regardless of the weather.”
The festival is held in cooperation with Smirnoff, Tuborg and Gogoyoko.
Ticket sales have begun on midi.is and the festival’s official song can be listened to here.
