Reykjavík is the only capital city in Europe with a white Christmas, RÚV reports.
The city has a 7 cm thick (2.8 in) snow cover today, calm easterly winds, partly cloudy skies and a temperature of minus 9°C (16°F).
You may be surprised to learn that when the ground is snowless on December 25, we call it a red Christmas (rauð jól), while many other nations call it green.
