EU Ambassador: No Pressure to Decide on Talks

Matthias Brinkmann, European Union Ambassador to Iceland, said in an interview with RÚV that there is no pressure on Iceland to make a decision as to whether or not to continue EU accession talks. “This is Iceland’s decision, the Icelandic nation and its government,” he said.

Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson said in an interview on news magazine Kastljós yesterday evening that the EU had made it clear that Iceland’s application could not be left up in the air and that the Icelandic government must provide a clear answer on whether it will continue or not.
