A new English-Icelandic/Icelandic-English dictionary, intended especially for children has been published by Mál&Menning. It contains a wealth of images and is easy to use for the youngest language students, both at home and at school.
The book is especially designed to meet the needs of children between eight and ten years old and is written by experienced teachers for beginners in English, but it could also prove useful for native English speakers wanting to learn Icelandic.
Containing more than 2,600 words with lively illustrations, the dictionary hopes to turn language studies into a game. It was originally released in Denmark in 2006 but has now been translated into Icelandic by Nanna Rögnvaldardóttir.
