England Pleased with Iceland’s Victory

English newspapers are pleased with Iceland’s 2-1 victory over Austria at the EURO2016 in Paris yesterday, according to mbl.is.

The Times goes so far as to call Arnór Ingvi Traustason’s victory goal the “goal that gave England hope.” The reason: “England were spared a meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal,” but Portugal knocked England out of the tournaments in 2004 and 2006.

Instead, England will meet Iceland in Nice on Monday.

Mirror Sport’s headline reads, “Time to Break the Ice.” Star Sports’ headline calls the result of the game, “Nice One,” with a picture of the Icelandic players.
