British musician Sir Elton John was a surprise guest at the 50th birthday party of Ólafur Ólafsson, the managing director of Samskip, in Reykjavík on Saturday night.
Sir Elton entered the stage at 9 pm and entertained the guests with an hour-long private concert. Fréttabladid reports.
Well known Icelandic singers such as Björgvin Halldórsson, Bubbi Morthens and Kristjana Stefánsdóttir performed along with the Reykjavík Big Band after Elton John left the stage.
Recently, Ármann Thorvaldsson, head of Kaupthing bank’s London office, hired Duran Duran to play at his birthday party.
