Eleven-Year-Old Björk in Iceland’s Most Popular Story

The most popular story of national broadcaster RÚV this year was one featuring a video of 11-year-old Björk reading from the nativity story on children’s program Stundin okkar in 1976 published on ruv.is on December 20. It was part of RÚV’s Christmas calendar.

Foreign media quickly picked up on the story where Björk performed with other students of Barnamúsíkskólinn music school, linking to the video, encouraging readers to let the child Björk bring on the Christmas spirit, ruv.is reports.

The video’s popularity is considered remarkable, that it trumped all other stories on ruv.is in 2014 in spite of having been published so late in the year.

The second-most popular news story on ruv.is this year was of MP Brynjar Níelsson bursting out in fits of laughter while being interviewed, while the broadcaster’s most popular story of all time is the one featuring a video supposedly showing lake monster Lagarfljótsormurinn.
