President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson presented 11 individuals with the Order of the Falcon, the highest recognition of the Icelandic state, at his residence Bessastaðir yesterday, including actor Arnar Jónsson and musician Ragnhildur Gísladóttir for their contributions to Icelandic theater and music.

Other recipients were farmer Eymundur Magnússon from Vallanes, east Iceland, for his pioneering in farming and food culture and former captain and principal Friðrik Ásmundsson from the Westman Islands for his contribution to the safety and education of seafarers, mbl.is reports.
Guðbjörg Edda Eggertsdóttir was recognized for her contribution to healthcare, Hafsteinn Guðmundsson for sport, Halldór Guðmundsson for literature, Margrét Dóróthea Sigfúsdóttir for homemaking studies, Sigrún Aðalbjarnardóttir for education, Stefán Hermannsson for urban development and Vilborg Einarsdóttir for innovation.
