Eighteen Films Compete at Reykjavík Short Film Days

The 2011 Reykjavík Short Film Days will take place at the cinema Bíó Paradís on Hverfisgata June 15-18. Of the 65 short films that were sent in, 18 were chosen to compete in the festival.

These include Between by María Thórdís Ólafsdóttir, Boy by Elífur Örn Thrastarson, Freyja by Marsibil Saemundardóttir, In Memoriam by Haukur M, Overman by Daníel I. Bjarnason, and The Magnet by Gunnar Tryggvason, ruv.is reports.

The top three films will receive a prize and will be screened on national broadcaster RÚV. The winner will also be screened at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival next year and the film’s director will be invited to attend the festival.

The jury is comprised of producer Gudrún Edda Thórhannesdóttir, set designer Hálfdán Pedersen and screenwriter and director Lars Emil Árnason.
