According to the online newsmagazine Eyjan he was on his way from a birthday party of a friend at a club in downtown Reykjavík when an unidentified man approached him wanting to talk to him. When Gudjohnsen didn’t reply the man pushed him so he fell on the street. Before Gudjohnsen’s friends could intervene, another man came and punched him in the face.

The footballer suffered no significant injuries and yesterday he was back with his club in Spain. According to his spokesman, Gudjohnsen will not press any charges against the men.
