Airport Parking Fee Waived for Buses

The Icelandic Competition Authority has ruled that Isavia must temporarily waive parking fees for buses at Keflavík International Airport. RÚV reported first.

A parking fee for buses at the airport came into effect on March 1, 2018, following a competitive bidding process between companies for use of the spaces. Previously there was no fee for buses servicing the airport.

The ruling means the Competition Authority believes it likely that Isavia is breaching competition regulations by charging the parking fee, which could have a negative impact on competition in the tourism industry. Isavia is scheduled to raise the fee substantially on September 1. A final ruling is yet to be made in the matter.
