Economic Crisis Over?

Last Friday, Swedish fashion chain Lindex opened its first store in Iceland. Three days later, the store was forced to close as there was nothing more to sell, as its managers explained in an issued statement. The store will reopen next Saturday, November 19, once a new shipment has arrived.

This was the biggest opening in the 60-year history of Lindex. Close to 10,000 people visited the new store, which is located at Smáralind shopping mall purchasing five times more than expected; three weeks’ worth of stock.

Currently, Lindex has 400 stores, mainly in Northern Europe, Russia, and the Middle East, and employs approximately 5,000 people. The Finnish company Stockmann is the owner of Lindex.
