Eastern European Orchestra to Perform in Iceland

The cultural initiative I, CULTURE ORCHESTRA, created by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw in 2011, is heading for the Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík on August 29.

An ensemble of musicians from Poland and the countries of the Eastern Partnership—Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine—the mission of the orchestra is to foster positive cultural and social development in the countries of Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus by reaching for the highest standards of artistic quality.

Musicians aged 18-28 are chosen from among 600 candidates each year.

The program is conducted by Kirill Karabits, recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Conductor of the Year Award 2013.

The Harpa concert is part of the orchestra’s tour of the Nordic and Baltic countries.
