East Iceland Drug Bust Investigated in Denmark

Detectives from the Iceland’s Capital Region Police Department are currently in Denmark investigating the smuggling of 58 kilos of drugs, mostly amphetamine, confiscated onboard a vessel in Fáskrúdsfjördur, east Iceland, last month.

Detectives have already been to the Faroe Islands and Norway to follow up on leads in relation to this case, the most extensive police operation in Iceland’s criminal history, which also reaches into Germany and the Netherlands.

Six individuals are currently being held in custody suspected of having participated in the amphetamine smuggling.
