East Iceland Art Festival Receives EU Funding

The east Icelandic art festival 700IS Reindeerland received funding from the European Union last week for the project “Alternative Routes,” which is organized by the 700IS Reindeerland group in collaboration with festivals in Hungary, Portugal and the UK.

This year in March the fourth annual 700IS Reindeerland festival, which primarily focuses on video installations, was held and was considered highly successful, according to its organizers, Kristín Scheving and Íris Lind Saevarsdóttir.

This summer, the “greatest hits” from the past four years will be exhibited at the Reykjavík Art Museum. Then the exhibition will travel to Hungary and other countries. Also, some of the stills from this year’s festival are on display at the Slaughterhouse in Egilsstadir.

The 700IS Reindeerland festival is held in cooperation with the Culture Centre of Fljótsdalshérad.
