East Fjords Inhabitants Flock to Fortitude Premiere

The inhabitants of Reyðarfjörður, the East Fjords, flocked to the premiere of British drama series Fortitude in local community center Staupasteinn yesterday evening. The series was shot in the town and elsewhere in the region.

The series features a murder in a small town in the Arctic and was filmed in several sessions last winter. The crew included Stanley Tucci, Richard Dormer, Michael Gambon and Danish actress Sofie Gråbøl.

“It was interesting to see how they piece the East Fjords together into one town and it was very exciting to watch the outcome,” Reyðarfjörður local Aðalheiður Björk Guðmundsdóttir told ruv.is.

“It’s uplifting for the region. That’s obvious. Won’t we get a lot of tourists because of it?” asked another local, Guðmundur Bjarnason.
