Earthquakes in North Iceland, Activity Resumes

An earthquake of 3.0 magnitude and another of 2.6 magnitude hit north-northwest of Siglufjörður, North Iceland, between 2 and 3 am last night, followed by several aftershocks above 2.0 in magnitude.

Some earthquakes of a similar strength also hit east and northeast of the island Grímsey last night, visir.is reports.

The series of earthquake in North Iceland appears not to be over, in spite of the level of uncertainty having been lifted in the region. The decision was made after no seismic activity had been detected in the region for some time.
