Earthquakes Hit Near Grímsey Island

An earthquake measuring 3.1 hit approximately 14 kilometers north-northeast of the island Grímsey off North Iceland just before 11:35 yesterday morning.

According to seismologist at the Icelandic Office of Meteorology Gunnar Guðmundsson, several aftershocks followed the earthquake but seismic activity is common in the area, reports.

Earlier this week, an earthquake of the magnitude 3.3 hit 18 kilometers east of the island.
