Earthquake Rocks Reykjavík

At 9.13 PM many in Reykjavík and the towns south of the capital city felt an earthquake. Since then about 20 smaller quakes followed in the next hour. No information has come in about damage from the quake which measured about 3.7 on the Richter scale.
About 20 quakes have been felt after the original one at 9.11 PM.

The quake was primarily felt in wooden houses and on higher floors of apartment buildings according to our Facebook sources. Its origin is one kilometer west of Krýsuvík, to the south of Hafnarfjördur (see green star). The area is an active volcanic ground, although no eruptions have been there in recent years.
