Earthquake Hits North Iceland on Live Radio

An earthquake of a magnitude 3.7 shook Siglufjörður, North Iceland, shortly after midnight. A woman who had called into a program on Rás2 radio was in the middle of a sentence, talking to the program host, Guðni Már Henningsson, when the earthquake hit. You can hear her voice here, calmly describing “everything shaking.” “I heard a bang in the ceiling of the room, and then the bed and the wall started moving.” “Our houses are strongly built,” she added and showed no sign of worry or fear.

The quake was also felt in Ólafsfjörður and Svarfarðardalur.
