Since midnight a number of earthquakes have been noted south of Reykjanes. According to RUV more than 50 quakes have been recorded. The quakes are not very big, only 2.5-2.7 on the Richter scale. This is the second cluster of quakes this spring, the earlier one took place on May 31 to June 1. Earthquakes are not common in this area and therefore questions rise on whether there will be increased activity following this. Halldór Geirsson at the physics centre of the Icelandic Meteorological Bureau says that it is impossible to say at this point in time.
