The collective income of the ten highest-earning Airbnb operators in Iceland was ISK 1.3 billion (USD 13.2m/EUR 10.7m) in 2017. Total earnings through Airbnb in Iceland were nearly ISK 20 billion (USD 204m/EUR 165m) last year, a 109 percent increase from the previous year.
The data comes from Íslandsbanki’s 2018 report on tourism in Iceland. Airbnb now accounts for 27 percent of the accommodation market, with hotels accounting for 37 percent and guesthouses 12 percent.
