Two floors had to be evacuated due to a fire in Keflavík International Airport yesterday; it started in the dropped ceiling between the duty-free shop and the floor above. The fire was caused by combustion in the circuit.

The duty-free shop on the second floor and the floor above had to be evacuated and 100 passengers waited on the first floor or outside for the fire department to extinguish the fire, Fridthór Eydal, a spokesperson for Isavia told Morgunbladid (19.7.11). Isavia is in charge of operations and development of airport facilities and air navigation.
The floors were ventilated and re-opened with minor damage.
