A concert by the famous Dutch singer/composer Herman van Veen will take place in the church Fríkírkjan by Tjörnin, the Reykjavík pond, tomorrow, December 16, at 8 pm. He will be accompanied by master guitarist Edith Leerkes and sing in various languages.
This is van Veen’s first performance in Iceland. It will be on the occasion of his 45th stage jubilee and is organized by a German friend living in Iceland, a press release states.
Van Veen studied music in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and has published around 175 CDs, 21 DVDs and numerous books.
He also sings in German and is highly popular in Germany, where he has been bestowed with the German Federal Cross of Merit and the Martin Buber Medal.
Van Veen is strongly committed to promoting children’s rights and welfare and has established several organizations for that purpose. He is also Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
