Door Slammer rattles houses in Seydisfjördur

No one got any sleep in Seydisfjördur, east Iceland, when Door Slammer visited the town last night. After placing treats in children’s shoes, he slammed doors with all his might.

“I prefer slamming doors in small towns,” Door Slammer explains to icelandreview.com. “Once when I was in Reykjavík I made an attempt at slamming automatic doors at the mall, but ended up jamming the tail of the Christmas Cat that had followed me there.”

Door Slammer is a notorious prankster. Unlike most of his brother he doesn’t care much for food, but takes his pleasure in startling people in their sleep, as described in Jólasveinarnir. He loves doors because there are no doors in the cave where he lives with his brothers.

Door Slammer likes all kinds of noise and if there are no doors in sight for him to slam, he sings as loud as he can to make sure no one falls asleep while he is in town.
