Dominos apologizes for Christmas greetings

Manager of Dominos in Iceland, Baldur Baldursson, apologized for Christmas greetings the company sent to about 80,000 customers as text messages on Christmas Eve.

The text messages were supposed to be delivered between 10 am and 2 pm, but some people did not receive the pizza company’s Christmas greetings until after dinner, as Morgunbladid reports. Dinner on Christmas Eve is seen as the beginning of the holiday.

Jóhannes Gunnarsson, head of the Consumer Organization in Iceland, had criticized Dominos for texting clients on Christmas Eve, which, in his opinion, are advertisements disguised as Christmas greetings.

Baldursson said the text messages had not been meant as advertisements, only as joy bringing Christmas greetings.
