Dokkan Brews First Westfjords Beer

Dokkan Brugghús, the first brewery in the Westfjords, is set to unveil its first beer over the first weekend in June, an Icelandic holiday known as Fisherman’s Day, RÚV reports. The brewery is located in the harbor town of Ísafjörður.

“The area’s unique. We’re in the Westfjords where there’s no brewery in a 400-kilometer radius—that’s unique in and of itself,” said Valur Norðdahl, who is involved with the brewery’s management. Hákon Hermannsson, one of Dokkan’s founders, says that the eventual plan is to have a guest room on the premises so that visitors can enjoy overnight stays as well as brewery tours and tastings. In the meantime, however, Bruggan’s first beers are expected to be sold in restaurants around the Westfjords starting this weekend.
