The Icelandic handball teams have not had a good run recently. The women’s team lost against Romania in a playoff for the European Championships’ and the men’s team lost against Macedonia in a playoff for a seat in the World Championships.
The men’s team who just recently won a ticket to the Olympics in an adventurous playoff against Sweden lost to Macedonia by eight goals. That means that Iceland has to win by eight goals or more when the teams meet again in Reykjavík next Sunday if they are still to have a chance of getting to the World Championships. Mbl.is reports.
The women’s team played against Romania both in Romania and in Iceland and lost in both matches. They are now out of the European Championships.
