Direct Flights to Budapest

The Hungarian low-budget airline Wizz Air will be offering direct service between Keflavík and Budapest, starting March 27, according to turisti.is. This marks the first time Icelanders will have the option of flying directly to Hungary. The least expensive seats are offered at ISK 11,300 (USD 86.73, EUR 79.99) one way. Additional fees apply to baggage. Two flights a week are scheduled all year round.

In addition to launching a service to Budapest, the airline will be flying its first flight between Warsaw and Keflavík shortly, but it already offers service between Gdansk and Keflavík.

Direct flights between Keflavík and Eastern Europe has been limited so far. WOW Air offers direct scheduled flights to Warsaw and to Vilnius, whereas Icelandair offers no direct service to Eastern Europe. Thus, Wizz Air’s plans are all the more important.

This summer, there are plans for Air Baltic to begin direct scheduled flights from Iceland to Riga, Lithuania.
