The twice-a-week flight from Keflavík, Iceland, to St. Petersburg takes four hours but the time difference is also four hours. Because of the time difference, the flight leaves St. Petersburg at 9:40 am and arrives at the same time in Keflavík. Connecting flights to New York and Boston leave from Keflavík an hour later.

The flight is operated in cooperation with Russian airline Rossiya.

The first direct Icelandair flight between Keflavík and Zurich also commenced last week, as did the airline’s first flight to Anchorage in Alaska.

This summer the airline will connect Iceland with 35 cities; ten in North America and 25 in Europe, reports.
