Did Drunk MP Vomit on Fellow Passengers?

There are two versions of a story circulating about whether or not Ásmundur Einar Daðason, MP for the Progressive Party and personal assistant to Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, was drunk when he vomited on board a WOW air flight to Washington DC this week.

The member of Alþingi has told reporters that he was suffering from a stomach upset, but both DV and Nútíminn quote other passengers on the plane who claim he was extremely drunk.

Tinna Margrét Jóhannsdóttir told Vísir that she was among the passengers who Ásmundur threw up over. She says he vomited over several rows of seats and over lots of people—adding that there was no doubt the MP was intoxicated. He could not stand up straight, had to lean on a pillar at passport control and was escorted the whole way by flight attendants, she says. “It was no stomach upset. That is just rubbish.”

Ásmundur explains that it was a stomach upset, which continued in Washington and on the way home as well. He says he is going to see a doctor about it.

Meanwhile WOW air says it has not received any complaints about the incident from passengers. The whole affair, however it panned out, has become a comic hashtag on Twitter, #ásiaðfásér.
