The four-day DesignMarch festival kicked off in Reykjavík on Thursday and will carry on throughout the weekend, while next weekend another festival will be held in the capital: the second annual Reykjavík Fashion Festival (RFF), March 31 to April 3.

Fashion design is a growing industry in Iceland and the festival is intended to provide the public and the media, domestic and foreign, with an insight into the “exciting” local fashion scene, a press release describes.
This year 22 designers are participating in RFF. Their fashion shows will take place in the Reykjavík Art Museum’s Hafnarhús (Harbor House) building on April 1 and 2 at 8 pm.
On April 2 and 3 a pop-up market will be held in conjunction with the festival on Laugavegur 91 where designers will sell their products.
