Today marks the opening of over 100 exhibitions, installations, fashion shows and other events all over the capital with the launch of DesignMarch, running through March 17, and Reykjavík Fashion Festival (RFF), running through March 16.

DesignMarch opens with DesignTalks, a day of lectures by internationally-acclaimed design thinkers: Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto of Eley Kishimoto, Juliet Kinchin of MoMA, Maja Kuzmanovic and Nik Gaffney of FoaM and Inge Druckrey, professor emerita, who will speak about the ‘Magic of Creativity.’
DesignMarch takes places in dozens of different locations all over town where fishbone toy sets, fashion illustrations, catwalk shows, letterpress printing and shellfish jewelry will be among the design displayed.
‘Reykjavík Fashion Night Out,’ a big celebration of fashion and shopping, will be held today on with a number of concept stores and boutiques remaining open until 9 pm.
RFF’s opening party will take place at Hotel Borg at 10 pm where DJ Margeir will entertain the crowd. The festival’s main event will be the catwalk fashion shows at concert and conference center Harpa, starting at 11 am on Saturday.
