Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Villy Søvndal met with his Icelandic counterpart Össur Skarphéðinsson who was on an official visit to the country yesterday.

The ministers discussed cooperation between Iceland and Denmark and the Nordic countries as well as the High North. Iceland’s accession talks with the EU and issues related to the euro zone were also discussed. Furthermore, Össur briefed Søvndal on the status of the Icesave and mackerel disputes.
Minister for Education, Science and Culture, Katrín Jakobsdóttir also met with Søvndal.
Søvndal’s trip follows a state visit by Prime Minister of Denmark Helle Thorning-Schmidt in late August.
