Decision on EU Unlikely before Summer Break

Parliamentary discussions on whether to withdraw Iceland’s European Union application are unlikely to be completed before the end of the parliamentary session on May 16, according to Birgir Ármannsson, chairperson of the parliament’s foreign affairs committee.

The committee discussed the government’s proposal to withdraw Iceland’s application in a meeting yesterday morning, reports.

Discussions on several other issues are yet to be opened.

It is unclear whether parliament will convene for a summer session.
