The offices of the Icelandic Institute of Natural History in Akureyri and Garðarbær, a town in the capital area, will be open from 3 to 5 pm with specialists on hand to analyze natural history specimens.

At 6 pm, journalist and environmentalist Ómar Ragnarsson will open three new movies at Bíó Paradís cinema in Reykjavík.

The government declared September 16 the Day of Icelandic Nature in 2010 and it was celebrated for the first time in 2011. September 16 is Ómar’s birthday.

The full program (in Icelandic) is available here.
