The Symphony Orchestra’s repertoire includes contemporary music, such as “Metastatis” by Iannis Xenakis which is composed for 61 instruments and “Hymnos” by Italian master Giacinto Scelsi; Hans Abrahamsen will be the guest of honor this year.

A special DMD warm-up event is scheduled for the opening day at the Culture House on Hverfisgata at 12:15 where a number of guitarists will perform.

Other events include a workshop and various other concerts at Harpa, a choir performance at the Háteigskirkja church on Saturday at 2 pm and a children’s concert at 11:30 am on Sunday.
