Dalmatian that Attacked Mail Carrier Put Down

By Iceland Review

The Dalmatian that attacked a mail carrier in Mosfellsbaer, a neighboring town of Reykjavík, earlier this month, inflicting a wound to her stomach and causing her to break her leg in two places, was put down on Friday.

The mail carrier had to be treated at the Landspítali hospital (the white building to the left) after she was attacked by the dog. Photo by Dagbjört Oddný Matthíasdóttir.

The option to have the dog undergo a behavioral evaluation to determine whether it should be put down or allowed to live with the condition of always wearing a muzzle outside was at hand, visir.is reports.

However, the owner decided to put the dog down without having it undergo behavioral treatment, so it was never carried through.
