The board of dairy cooperative MS has decided not to drastically reduce milk production in its dairy in Egilsstadir, east Iceland, which would have cost about ten people their jobs, as announced yesterday.
MS CEO Gudbrandur Sigurdsson told ruv.is that instead of such a drastic solution, his company will find another way to make milk production in Egilsstadir more profitable.
Local dairy farmers and members of the Fjardarbyggd municipality had expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed move, claiming it would have devastating consequences for the region.
